What breaks without it
A trailer is a sequence argument. Shot two only lands because shot one set it up. Generate the shots independently and each one argues with the last.
How the run is built
- 01Set the world once: location, season, time of day, film stock, lens character.
- 02Escalate the camera deliberately — static, then push, then tracking — so the grammar builds.
- 03Hand the last frame forward so cuts land on continuous motion rather than a hard reset.
The part you write once
This block is prepended to every shot in the run before it reaches the model. It is the reason shot four still has the same cast, the same room and the same grade as shot one. Edit it and the whole sequence moves together.
Coastal boatyard in late autumn, grey light, salt-bleached timber. Two crew in oilskins, one older with a white beard, one in her twenties. Anamorphic feel, gentle halation on highlights, muted teal and rust grade.
The part you edit per shot
Shot one is directed from text. Every shot after it opens on the previous shot's final frame, so the cut lands on continuous motion.
- 01[Pedestal up]
Rising over the slipway at first light, hulls in cradles, gulls settling.
- 02[Tracking shot]
The younger crew member carries a coil of rope the length of the dock.
- 03[Push in]
The older man runs a thumb along a repaired seam and nods once.
- 04[Pull out]
Wide from the water as the boat clears the slip, wake opening behind it.
